Excitim

excitim special needs toys logo. Image of 9 thumb-nail pictures of switch adapted equipment. From top right spiraling clock-wise they read: Our Most Popular Toys, Age Range 3-6 years, Age Range 6-10 Years, Talking, Singing and Sensory Toys, Sensory Toys, Age Range 10 to teens, switch accessible music, switch accessible photography, switches.

Excitim has undergone a complete site redesign, and it's looking very nice for it. They've a wide range of accessible toys and gadgets, including a 10 megapixel camera, bubble machines, remote control cars and many sensory toys. A really professional and friendly UK company that I highly recommend.

Excitim Switch Accessible Camera and CD Player

Excitim switch accessible Sony CD Player.

Excitim switch accessible digital camera.

Excitim have released more superb looking switch accessible gadgets very recently. A very fine looking mini ghetto-blaster for those wanting a simple switch accessible music CD player.

Very nice too, is their 10 mega-pixel Canon digital camera. They've found a really elegant solution for switch access via the USB socket. Would be great if Canon would keep this as a standard way of taking photos using a single click method.

Digital Camera with Large Controls

Image of an orange VTech Kidizoom adapted digital camera, sitting on a black motorised tripod, all connected to a large control panel.Enabling Devices have an adapted V-Tech Kidizoom camera with a large control panel and motorised tripod for $399.99. It doesn't look like you can connect your own switches unfortunately, but I can see this being a really excellent solution for some.

If you fancy creating your own switch accessible camera, take a jump over to this OneSwitch D.I.Y. page.

Switch Adapted Camera D.I.Y. Guide

Image of a Switch adapted VTech Kidizoom digital camera with connected yellow accessibility switch. Thanks to Ryan Savage and his ever thoughtful Mum, I finally got around to adapting a digital camera. This was to be a 13th birthday present for him, so I was very pleased that the adaptation worked out. I was even more pleased to later receive an e-mail containing four of the 100 plus photos Ryan took in just two days. Cracking photos, Ryan, great stuff!

For anyone wishing to have a bash at adapting their own digital camera / video recorder, I have just posted a D.I.Y. switch accessible digital camera guide. For those who would like me to adapt a VTech Kidizoom for them, please get in touch.
